The Founding Social

We just had our first official meetup for the Victoria Gay Men's Chorus, and it was a sweet lovely informal gathering on the patio. The turnout was great, and people were genuinely excited to finally connect to start singing together. Thanks so much to The Bent Mast for hosting us—great space, friendly staff, and the hot wings and nachos disappeared pretty fast. New Members Everybody signed up today, so we officially have founding members. The group is already shaping up to be pretty diverse, which is exactly what we wanted. Our conductor and accompanist were there too, talking through what the season could look like. A few folks also volunteered to help run things until we have our first proper AGM, which has been huge. Donations and Support We managed to raise $100 at the event from people just wanting to contribute. That'll help a lot with getting music and getting things organized. It was really cool to see people step up like that. Our friend Piper the Husky also showed up and became an instant favourite. What's Next? We're heading into this feeling pretty energized. If you're interested in joining, there's a spot for you. Check the website soon for rehearsal dates and info about our first performance in December

The Victoria Gay Men's Chorus respectfully acknowledges that we gather, sing, and perform on the unceded traditional territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen) speaking peoples, today known as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.

The Victoria Gay Men's Choir are grateful to the Oaklands Community Association for their generous support of our exciting adventure!
